An England International home shirt 1982 bears No. 9 for Trevor Francis, England v. Northern Ireland and 1982 British Home Championship. Trevor Francis was injured after 65mins, and was substituted by Cyrille Regis. *SOLD WITH A LETTER OF CONFIRMATION STATING THE ABOVE LOT HAS COME FROM THE ESTATE OF THE LATE TREVOR FRANCIS* The estate has stated "I would say that Trevor wasn’t into collecting shirts / memorabilia as such himself. He preferred to keep only items which meant something significant to him personally. Specifically, he did speak about the shirt swap with Maradona and I remember on one occasion he thought he had mislaid it and was very concerned at the time, but he did locate it. Trevor bought and sold many homes and his shirts etc were never displayed and basically stored in suitcases or plastic crates. The Maradona shirt was a game swapped shirt, and from memory, I think there is a mud stain on the shirt. With regard to Zidane and Rivaldo, and on the basis of them meaning something to Trevor, I believe they were game worn shirts. I can’t give you any complete guarantee on the shirts but I do think he would not have retained them all those years ( and stored and transported them through many house moves !) if they didn’t mean a lot to him personally and were of significance."

A Philip III Posthumous Gold Cob 2 Escudos 1622 SF. . Commonly hailed as the first gold coin of the Americas, the preparations for the issue were provided for by Philip III's 25 May 1620 directive to establish a new mint in Colombia (either at Cartagena or Bogota), though dies were not produced until 1622 under the 1620 authorization, one year after Philip's death. This was a full 57 years before the minting of a similar issue at Mexico City (1679) and 76 years prior to that of the Lima mint (1696). Eager to impress the governor of Nueva Granada and the Audiencia of Santa Fe, following his arrival in mid-1621, Alonso Turrillo struck a small series of purportedly "trial" pieces with the new dies, likely meant to be transported to Spain for royal approval from Philip IV aboard the fleet that included the Santa Margarita and Nuestra Señora de Atocha. The wrecking of both vessels, however, meant that these pieces were largely lost to history for over three centuries, until the treasures of these wrecks were recovered by Mel Fisher's Treasure Salvors, Inc. in the 1980s. This is the 9th and most recently 'discovered' example. It was bought by the vendor on a holiday to Florida from the salvor and has its original certificate. In comparison to the other examples this probably grades within the top three. 1) The Eldorado specimen (Stack's Bowers January 2018, Lot 11004); Purchased from Kurt Spanier in August 1982 = Oro Macuquino-74 Plate Coin = ORC-794 Plate Coin. Ancent Soi 1995, 'Herds boy taking cows home', oil on canvas, signed and dated, gallery sales label with title verso, 96x61cm, framed Born in 1937 in Yatta, he started selling woodcarvings and paintings at the Nairobi City Market for a politician friend in the early sixties before venturing into art himself under the tutelage of Congolese artist, Banto, who he said in earlier interviews ‘was the best artist in Kenya’ then. It was around this time that he entered a painting in the ESSO calendar competition judged by Joseph Murumbi where he won the first prize. His work was subsequently included in the calendar and that marked the beginning of his long partnership with Murumbi and the African Heritage. Having embarked on his journey as a full time artist, Soi had a prolific career where he made paintings of wildlife and landscapes inspired by the vast Yatta plateau. These were heavily punctuated by the two main ethnic communities that strode the area; Kamba & Maasai, whose traditions and village life form the core of his subject. A highly skilled painter, he was a stickler to detail. This is evident in how he painted his animal coats and the copious hours he’s spend painting the elaborate items of clothing and jewellery that adorn his subjects. Soi’s career continued to flourish at a time when most African countries were gaining independence and with the Munich Olympics (1972) approaching, Africans were allowed to participate in a competition to make the event’s poster. As fate would have it, he won the first prize (1971). This got him worldwide acclaim as Kenya’s (and probably one of Africa’s) most talented artists. He was offered a lucrative residency in Munich in 1972 but had to cut it short and come back home for the birth of his first son towards the end of that year. That son is artist Michael, currently one of the most recognizable artists in the region. Through the seventies into the nineties, Soi exhibited in Japan, the USA, Germany and in Kenya Provenance _ from a private collection located in Totnes. Winds and runs. Age related faults, buttons need attention ** In 1965 Edward Higgins 'Ed' White (1930-1967) was the first American to 'walk in space' outside of his Gemini 4 capsule. The Omega 105.003 has been coined the 'Ed White' as it was on the wrist of White during this historic milestone in space exploration ** The production period of the 105.003 was very short, lasting around three years from 1963. In 1966 it was superseded by the 'Professional' ref.105.012 famously worn on the moon in 1969

* Of Canadian Railway Importance _ A Rare "Last Spike" Diamond Brooch engraved 'Craigellachie B.C. 7. NOV. 1885' The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) was completed at Craigellachie, British Columbia, at 9:22 am on November 7, 1885. This brooch (of which three others are known about) contains a piece of the "second to last spike" (which bent when being driven in). The brooch measuring 54.9mm long contains eight principal old cut stones measuring c. 7mm, 6.45, 6.1, 5.5, 5.2, 4.9, 4.4 & 4mm with five smaller old cuts to the head and four additional rose cuts (based on diameter alone in the region of 5.9ct) presented in a high carat gold and platinum setting, 8.3g For further details see: https://www.okthepk.ca/dataCprSiding/cprNews/cpNews60/87030100.htm Provenance _ Charles John Shore, 3rd Baron Teignmouth. (1840-1915) and by decent. This is linked to the Royal Presentation Mirror (lot 170) in the sale and it is possilbe this brooch belonged to Prince Arthur Govenor General of Canada who crossed Canada via the recently completed Canadian Pacific railroad.
