An Early Arts & Crafts Cabinet in the Reformed Gothic Movement Style with roundels to the top painted with portraits of Geoffrey Chaucer and John Wicklif (sic) (John Wycliffe), The pitch pine construction arranged with two cupboards separated by a pair of drawers, the lower cupboard with monogrammed CE? and CJM?. The cabinet was once a fitted piece for an estate office or library and likely had a plinth, the sides are also unfinished. In the style of the designers Bruce Talbert, J.P. Seddon and Charles Eastlake and possibly commissioned from Cox & Sons in London or similar, 187(h)x108(w)x48(d)cm
This has come from the deceased estate of a lady dealer who was given it, but sadly we don't know who or when! Lot ticket found to top. Part of a fitted piece so sides unfinished, good condition, though finish has bubbled. May have had plinth and cornice.
